Franziska gave an invited presentation on Human Factors and Cognitive Bias at the Thematic Day of the ENFSI Annual Meeting 2026. The ENFSI Annual Meeting 2026 was hosted the first time by the Zurich Forensic Science Institute. The meeting brought together forensic science professionals and experts of the ENFSI community. The event offers a unique platform for participants to engage in discussions, exchange knowledge and explore the latest developments in forensic science. It also provides an excellent opportunity to network, collaborate and strengthen partnerships.

The thematic day featured a diverse programme of presentations on recent developments in forensic science. Cognitive Biases are a natural consequence of basic human information processing. In her talk, Franziska presented several bias mitigation measures that aim to reduce the consequences of bias. In addition, she summarized the results of a survey on implemented measures within ENFSI member states and pointed out that successful bias mitigation needs both – individual awareness training as well as organisational redesign.
